New York City Action Actors
Academy
featuring Action Scene Combat:
Martial Arts & Fight Choreography for Film & Television
NYCAAA and the ASC are the Training Grounds
for the Action Actor. No need to dream of having an Action
film and television career. Now with the New York City Action
Actors Academy and Action Scene Combat these
dreams are possible. Founded by Demetrius
Angelo, a 25 year veteran of the Martial Arts and Fitness
industry and 10 year Independent Film fighter/ fight choreographer,
the ASC program was developed to efficiently train actors to perform
choreographed fight scenes in 5 – 6 weeks at 4 hours per week.
Action Scene Combat training
is for the purpose of preparing actors to have a competitive edge in
today’s action oriented film and television industry. Blockbuster
films like The Matrix, Bulletproof Monk, Lord of the Rings, Resident
Evil 2, Cat Woman, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Hero, House of Flying
Daggers, as well as Television shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer,
Angel, Stargate Atlantis, Alias and the like have all established the
birth of a new genre of actors, the Action Actor.
Unless you are Jackie Chan or Jet Li, there will
always be a need for Stunt Doubles and Stunt Professionals. In the tradition
of the Chinese Opera School and more presently, the likes of Jennifer
Garner, Wesley Snipes, Kelly Hu, The Rock, Halle Berry and Zhang ZiYi,
the Action Actor is capable of doing limited stunt
work and fight choreography, maximizing individual on-screen time and
production efficiency.
The ASC (Action Scene Combat)
curriculum lays a firm foundation for those interested in being able
to perform limited stunt work and fight choreography in today’s
film and television industry with a competitive edge. The ASC offers
three levels of certification, each building on the
prior and advancing the capabilities of the practitioner.
The NYCAAA and ASC offers the following
curriculum in 3 levels for the Action Actor:
Martial Arts for Cinema - Fight Choreography
- Action Reaction
Action Acrobatics - Action Actors
Conditioning - ASC Weapons
